DIRECT FLIGHT OPTIONS TO CHANIA
From the UK, direct flights only operate during the tourist season. Scheduled services for the 2014 season are by Gatwick/Chania (operated by EasyJet), Stansted/Chania (operated by Ryanair). Charter flights for the 2014 season are Gatwick/Chania.
FLIGHT OPTIONS VIA ATHENS TO CHANIA
There are many flight options via Athens throughout the year through Heathrow/Athens/Chania (both British Airways and Aegean Airlines operate daily flights from London
- Heathrow to Athens where you can get an internal domestic flight operated by either Aegaen Airlines or Olympic Air from Athens to Chania—flight time is around 40 minutes depending on the aircraft)
- Gatwick/Athens/Chania – a similar option exists from Gatwick with British Airways, Aegean Airlines and EasyJet operating the Gatwick/Athens leg and then again Aegean or Olympic from Athens to Chania.
The advantage of flying by Athens is that you have the option to spend a few nights in Athens. The airport is linked to the city centre by their metro service (journey time about 50 miuntes). But if you fly via Athens, try to get all your flights booked on one ticket through a travel agent so that if your first flight is delayed, you will not have to buy a second ticket if you miss your connecting flight.

UPON YOUR ARRIVAL
Our representative in Crete will meet you at Chania Airport (or the port if you opt for the ferry from Athens) who will complete a simple check in process to comply with Greek law, hand you the keys, provide you directions and answer any questions you may have.
The easiest way to get to the house is to pick up a hire car at airport. The airport is served by the main operators – Avis, Hertz, National, Europcar who have desks in the arrivals area after you clear customs. Local operators also operate from the airport and they will meet you in the arrivals area. You can pre-book through the internet or you can book on arrival but note in peak season you may have limited options in terms of choice or price – out of season is a different story!
Alternatively, we can arrange for a local taxi to collect you from the airport or you can pick up a taxi from the rank outside the terminal building and make arrangements to hire a car locally.
